Recently we’ve supplied and completed fabricated sections for a new 900mm SDR17 PE sewer rising main for Wellington Water’s Porirua Central Wastewater Storage Facility, connecting the pump station to the retention tank.
Downer and subcontractor Schick Construction carried out the installation, with the all joints butt fusion welded by UPG onsite which including some difficult tie-ins performed. Our approach to the project meant we could fabricate as much of the pipeline as possible in our workshop, which then limited the number of welds needed onsite. That reduced risk, simplified the contractor’s methodology, and increased productivity and efficiency on the ground. It’s a good example of what we can do on a pipeline of this size, from fabrication through to on-site support with PE welding and more.
