Coal Creek Water Treatment Plant

About the project

Coal Creek Water Treatment Plant

The Grey District Council required an upgrade to the Greymouth Water Treatment Plant to include UV Disinfection, increased on-site Treated Water Storage and a pH controlled solution to improve the existing Lime Dosing system.

Process Flow provided a total design/build solution which was integrated into the existing plant infrastructure and provided UV and chlorine disinfection as well as improved pH control through a robust Lime Dosing System.

Process Flow commissioned the project in April 2015 and the new modern water treatment plant provides water to Greymouth and the surrounding districts in accordance with the ‘Drinking Water Standard New Zealand’ (DWSNZ)

The Project Included:

New bore pump controls
UV Disinfection
Lime Storage via a 70m3 silo
New powder handling system and slurry tank
New 250m3 Reservoir
New PLC and SCADA system
This fully operational water treatment plant required carefully coordinated commission and cut-over planning, and had to maintain supply to a population of 10,000 people.
